Industry rivals join hands to promote PSN

A trade association of IT suppliers was launched this week to work with the Cabinet Office to bring public services networks to life.

The PSNGB industry association includes 30 PSN suppliers, both large and small. It is a formal part of the PSN operating model and brings industry expertise and commitment to the programme, which aims to save at least £120m a year by enabling public bodies to share network infrastructure and services from a group of approved suppliers.

The association said its main objectives are" to help develop and grow this competitive market by promotion of PSN, contributing industry expertise on issues such as standards, helping members achieve PSN compliance and by highlighting the potential of PSN services to enable greater savings, efficiencies and improvements in public services".

As a first step, PSNGB is running a series of events, in partnership with the Cabinet Office, to provide an updateon the latest progress of PSN and offer advice on how to achieve PSN compliance, transition to PSN and to reap the promised benefits.

Initial events aimed at PSN users will be held at Leeds University on 10 July followed by Imperial College, London on 12 July. Additional events are planned across the UK from September.
