Agile, in the cloud, and keeping London clean

Nigel Tyrell, head of environment at the London Borough of Lewisham, talks to UKAtv about why the council pioneered its ground-breaking Love Lewisham cloud service. The innovative cloud-based reporting tool is now rolling out across London as 'Love Clean London' - enabling citizens and visitors to the capital to report grime-crime such as graffiti, litter and fly-tipping via smartphone, web or phone and see the progress as their reports help clean up the environment. Using Microsoft's Windows Azure platform the service is quick and flexible to set up and available on a 'pay-as-you-go' basis - and as an added bonus it is not only delivering efficiency savings but also generating additional revenue for councils. With the full backing of Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, the app developed by SME, bbits, will help keep London clean ahead of the 2012 Olympics.
