Public sector 'better than private' when it comes to being flexible
Public sector managers and workforces are working more flexibly than the private sector, both in terms of setting work policies and in the communications tools they use, according to new research.
Siemens Enterprise Communication, which commissioned the research, says the public sector is more effective than many private companies at coping with economic austerity and disruptive events such as the London Olympics.
The research also reveals that the public sector is showing signs of adopting more sophisticated ways to collaborate and make efficiencies. For example public sector staff appear to be better at adopting tools like unified communications incorporating staff availability systems.
The research found that 65% of public sector organisations have agreed flexible working policies with their staff.
