Informed Publications
Informed Publications Ltd (IPL) publishes LGITU (Local Government IT in Use) magazine, the only magazine to focus solely on the use of ICT within UK Local Government and other Frontline Service Organisations in Digital Britain.
Read by 22,000 senior officers in the UK's 468 local authorities and other LAA organisations (police, fire and health), LGITU provides an independent forum for the development of the transformational local government vision, the application of technology to the efficiency agenda and the evolution of Digital Britain.
IPL also publishes the www.UKauthorITy.com online news service, Tomorrow's Town Hall subscription-only market information newsletter and the ComCord database.
When IPL first opened its doors in 1993 the focus was on proving the use of technology to automate the business of local government. Our strapline back at the beginning of the Modernising Government agenda was 'Keeping the focus on people in the Information Age'. This holds as true today, fifteen years on, as it did then: keeping the focus on citizen-centric delivery of inclusive public services.
We fundamentally believe that transformation of the way efficient local service organisations operate internally, how they deliver services and engage with their citizens will only be enabled by sucessful use of technology.
In this information revolution lifestyles are changing irrevocably and at an escalating pace. As people's lives change so do their expectations, especially those concerning access to public services. At the same time we must be careful that none are left behind in this digital revolution.
The challenge for the public sector, back in 1993 and today, is to meet ever exacting citizen expectations and deliver quality services in new and varied ways - whilst, of course, meeting budget restrictions and delivering value for tax payers' money.
